Artist Dodd Holsapple
Biography

b. Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A.

Holsapple began his formal visual art career after finishing studies at Ball State University's Art Department, He opened his studio in Los Angeles, California. Soon after arriving in California Holsapple created the popular Living Sculpture Series works. These sculptures were widely published and exhibited. Eventually settling into a studio space in Santa Monica, California where he currently produces works internationally dividing his time between studios in Los Angeles and Northern Japan.

Holsapple has been elected to the Los Angeles public artists’ pool several times. The Living Sculpture was exhibited in the Venice Art Walk and the Winter Group Exhibition at Boritzer Grey Gallery in Santa Monica.

Of broader note, Holsapple was interviewed for a televised documentary about new contemporary sculpture and architecture for A&E television. He created a public art installation for Earthworks Now at Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree, California. He was commissioned to produce "Drain Strain" a public art installation for the City of Manhattan Beach, California. His painting of a lily was selected for the Easter Seals lily stamp art competition. "Thicket" was a commissioned temporary sculpture installation at Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga, California. He also produced a landmark installation at Chaffey College for Earthday entitled Mud DNA. Holsapple was commissioned for an installation work for the City of Fontana, California entitled Mud Fish Mandala along with a solo exhibition in their Artist Showcase program.

Holsapple exhibited artwork in the Origins show at Arizona State University, Santa Clarita City Hall and Hokkaido, Japan. Currently he is mastering Painting producing a large body of highly recognizable contemporary works of art.
