Ceramics, the word evokes in me a sense of history, and culture that transcends spoken language. My pottery incorporates the senses, of touch and sight, and goes even further as they are also used as vessels for consumption and for display. After reading and studying the history of ceramics I developed my own glaze using indigenous clay as was once done in the past in countries such as South Korea and China. It is a very unique glaze that is unlike anything else that I have ever encountered, with many beautiful properties. For me to share my work with the world and to expand peoples understanding of “the arts” gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment as an artist, but for people to use and enjoy my work gives me a sense of joy to know that there pleasure came form the work of my hands and my spirit, and that sense of fulfillment is one of the greatest pleasures of all.
