Fay Wood

Fay Wood's work has been called "intense, spirited, far- sighted, inventive, startling, ingeniously whimsical",by Raymond J. Steiner of the Art Times Journal. She was born in Egremont, Mass,USA, and has been creating art for the past 55 years. She began sculpting in the 1970's,first carving wood, then working with found objects, and recently, combining her many techniques together to create her six portfolios. She studied at Massachusetts College of Art, also privately, and by finding her own methods to work with the many materials which she uses. She also works with fiber to create found object tapestries, as well as beginning a new portfolio of found object collage in 2016. She has won many prizes over the years; the Proskauer Prize from the National Sculpture Society being an honor. She continues to work in her studio and exhibit her work at 78 years of age, and feels her work is more interesting each day.
