Virginia Sperry

Virginia Sperry started off her art career in 1990 working with polymer clay and participating in retail and wholesale craft shows around the country. She showed her sculpted animals and woven polymer clay baskets at the coveted Rosen and ACC wholesale shows where they were bought by many high end retail craft galleries. In addition, she owned her own gallery, Winter Moon Designs Studio and Gallery, located in an old mill town outside of Baltimore.
In 2003, after working with polymer clay for 13 years, Ms. Sperry decided to do something different and took a metal fabrication class at the Maryland Institute of Art (MICA). The following year she moved her studio to an industrial park and began her next career welding life-sized animals out of steel. Her animals soon found homes across the country.
In 2013, after a decade of making animals, Virginia started to combine her knowledge of weaving and welding to create unique story baskets. Made from welded steel spines and woven with flexible fibers, these baskets show clearly her love of life and nature.
Virginia lives with her husband, two dogs and two cats outside of Baltimore, MD.
