Henry Detweiler

Henry Detweiler is an Atlanta-based artist and curator. His practice includes drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and performance.

His work which deals with the ways technology and access to information are effect our interpersonal relationships. The premise of this work that vernacular irony and the obfuscated language used online are simulacra for sincere feeling. The fluid (and often technically inaccurate) use of words that occurs on the Internet has the ability to communicate feeling and ideas ways that are deeper and more poetic applicability than plain speak.

In 2012, he earned a BFA in Drawing Painting and Printmaking from Georgia State University. His work has been featured in Hyperallergic, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, New American Paintings, as well as in Emergency Index Vol. 3 from Ugly Duckling Presse.
