Jose Acosta

Jose Acosta Born in San Jose Cuba 1966 currently lives in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. with his Family. Jose has made great strides in America. His works are in over 500 Private and Public Collections. His works are in the collection of The World Bank Art Program Washington, DC, United Cerebral Palsy, Healthy Families, Touro College, The University of Pennsylvania Art Collection, Rubin Museum Collection etc... Jose is included in “Antologia de Pintores Hispano-Americanos” 2010 and his painting "Celebration" is on the cover.

Bright colors, swirling figures, and vibrant energy characterize Acosta’s paintings. “There is a strong influence of his native Cuba in the happiness and bright colors of his paintings,” he says. Acosta was born in Cuba and immigrated to the U.S. with his family when he was 3 years old. He considers himself a Cuban-American and is very proud of both his Cuban heritage and his American citizenship. "Generally my paintings depict my personal history and my surroundings. I paint from my heart, expressing a little hope and happiness in all of my creations.”

Acosta started his professional art career in 2004 exhibiting in galleries and art fairs. In 2004 at his first public exhibit, Acosta won the Best of Show at the Dutchess County Art Fair. He has continued to exhibit widely and after a lifetime of creating art Jose Acosta has exhibited in over 500 art exhibition’s and has had 30 solo shows. The World Bank in Washington, DC, acquired seven of his works at the International Caribbean Art Fair in New York in 2007, and in September of 2008, the University of Pennsylvania acquired his painting, "Staying Alive," to display in the art library. In 2009 Jose won Premio Arte NYC, 2010 and 2011 exhibited at Queens Museum of Art, 2010 invited to Gracie Mansion for breakfast with Mayor Bloomberg. 2010 to 2014 served on the board of Arts Mid Hudson. 2010, 2011 and 2014 presented with Certificate’s of Appreciation signed by Mayor Brian P. Stack & the Board of Commissioners of Union City, New Jersey. In 2011 won Bronze Medal Arts, Sciences & Letters from Paris France, Jose was awarded the medal at the Museum of the City on New York... 2012 Appointed United States Representative to Arts, Sciences & Letters Paris France. 2012 and 2013 exhibit at Ponce Museum and Casona Museum in Puerto Rico. 2013 board member of National Journalists Association of Cuba in Exile. 2013 awarded proclamation by International Colombian Cultural Center at the Colombian Consulate where his art was on display. 2014 Winner Latino Show Magazine Award. 2015 two painting selected by Warner Bros Studio to be in new movie. 2015 Group Art Exhibition Art About Water.
