John Bodkin

My early career was started with a BFA from Ringling School of Art and an MFA from the University of Tulsa. My work consists of large canvasses painted in oil. My work is like a river I think. It flows along with many pools and eddies along the way but keeps moving towards it's eventual course. I like exploring with my work and think this path is the one towards lifelong growth. I am showing in major art markets in the U.S. as well as Europe and China. I am interested in abstract work that represents visual translations of the iconic elements of American life. Not the focus on advertising culture but focused on the tactil reality of american life portrayed through it's distilliation into abstract work. I feel that this exploration is not tied to a particular style but a constant reevaluation in seeking that essence that I try to transmit
