Mary Jo McDonald

The immediacy of watercolor makes it my medium of choice. My role as a contemporary artist is to reduce a subject to its essence. My favorite personal artwork has a sculptural quality with an interplay of light and shadow. I have commissioned portraits and paintings in many states, as well as Kentucky.

I am always seeking to improve my technical prowess and control of my watercolors, and to enhance my life through art. John Muir said, "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread."
