Shelley Jordon

Bio
Painter and moving-image artist Shelley Jordon was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1986 to join the faculty at Oregon State University where she remains a Professor of Art in the School of Arts and Communication.
Jordon is a recipient of a Visual Arts Fellowship from the American Academy in Jerusalem, a Fulbright Hayes Travel Award, two Oregon Artist Fellowship Awards and an OSU Center for the Humanities Fellowship. Her artwork has been supported by grants from the Ford Family Foundation, the Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
Jordon’s solo exhibitions include the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, OH, the Frye Museum in Seattle, WA, the Holter Museum, Helena, MT, the Chicago Botanic Gardens, the Oregon Jewish Museum, Portland, OR, among others. Her artwork has been included in Biennials in the Portland Art Museum of Art, the Tacoma Art Museum and the Portland Art Museum, Portland Maine. Her artwork has been exhibited in in San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland and Seattle as well as venues in Italy, Israel, Great Britain, Croatia, Vancouver BC, Lithuania, Cambodia, Poland, Venezuela and Germany. Recent artist residencies include Djerassi, Woodside, CA, Lucas Artist Residency at Montalvo, Saratoga, CA, the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, OH and the American Academy in Rome. Jordon received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and her MFA from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York where she studied under Philip Pearlstein.
