Judith Brust

Judith A. Brust is an internationally known artist who works in various mediums: painting and drawing, both abstract and figurative, sculpture and most recently unusually large (4 ft. x 8 ft.) layered monoprints. Influenced by extensive readings in the works of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell and Gaston Bachelard, and inspired by the spiritual quality in the works of fellow painters and sculptors Mark Rothko, Paul Klee, Louise Bourgeois and Eva Hesse, Brust's art, especially the monoprints, deserves a commitment of time and attention on the part of any serious viewers.

Brust holds an MFA from the State University of New York in Albany and a BS from Pennsylvania State University. She has exhibited extensively in group and solo shows for over 30 years. Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. including the permanent collection at the Mandarin Hotel in Boston, alongside artists such as David Hockney, Terry Winters and Frank Stella.

A resident of the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts, she exhibits her work at Gallery at 4 India Street on Nantucket and L'Attitude Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. Previously she owned galleryblue, which she managed from 2005 to 2010 in Nantucket and in Rochester, New York.

Her Nantucket studio--galleryblue--serves as the base for her creative work and is open by appointment throughout the year. Presently she serves as a board member of the Artists Association and the Nantucket Arts Council and actively supports the island's thriving artist community.
