Karen Benson

A mixed media and encaustic painter working in the Pacific Northwest, I create evocative abstract representational paintings that explore habitat, memory, emotion and wonder.

As a child growing up in the Washington DC Metro area, I was inspired by the free museums and found art to be an inspiration and a salve. I later moved to California and graduated from California College of Art and subsequently worked for major West Coast museums.

I have always found art to be transformative and moving and my personal goal in creating work is to make something that transports the viewer.
