Kate Beck

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in 1956 in Bath, Maine, Kate Beck has studied art and creative writing in the United States at the University of Maine at Orono, Bennington College, Goddard College and The Maine College of Art.

She has been the focus of numerous articles and interviews, including: Essential Dialogue, In Search of Reductive Imagery, by Jack Craft, Clarendon, TX, 2012; Frank Eerhardt: On Kate Beck, edited by Andrew Hewish, The Art Section, London, UK, 2011; Critical Lines, by Britta Konau, Maine Home + Design Magazine, 2011; Writings on Art: Kate Beck, by Fiona Robinson, London, UK, 2010; Drawing Lines: Kate Beck, by Brent Hallard, Tokyo, Japan, 2009.

She has exhibited and lectured within the United States and Europe, including The New Mexico Museum of Contemporary Art; The Ogunquit Museum of American Art; Center for Maine Contemporary Art; University of Pennsylvania; Harvard University; Tufts University; The University of New Hampshire; The University of Western Bohemia, Pilsen, Czech Republic; The Kosova Museum of Art, Prishtina, Kosova; Kunst-Element, Waalre, The Netherlands and ParisCONCRET, Paris, France. Her works are held in public and private collections worldwide, and she is a 2012 Fellow of The BAU Institute, Otranto, Italy.

Beck is represented in the United States by ICON Contemporary Art, Brunswick, Maine; and Masters & Pelavin, New York, New York. Her work may also be seen at The Drawing Center Viewing Program, New York, NY; Kentler International Drawing Space, Brooklyn, NY; and at Kunst-Element Waalre, The Netherlands. Additionally, she maintains professional relationships with MINUS Space in Brooklyn, NY, and ParisCONCRET, Paris, France.

Beck lives and works on the ocean in Harpswell, Maine at WhiteSpot Studio with her husband. She has four grown children.
