Kristin Hosbein

Kristin’s is an emerging painter with a background of graphic design and marketing as well as a college education in fine art. Many years of design, branding and communications for retail, health care, and business-to-business clients, has helped to form the ideals of her current painting.

The messages are simple and singular: a moment, a memory, a look, a subject. She is fascinated with the way light plays on and around forms. She works in a contemporary realistic style, with hints of impressionism, using either oil or acrylic. Her plein air paintings, worked with a conservation of brushstrokes, are painted on location, and her larger studio paintings are created in her studio in St. Augustine.
In addition to plein air and studio work, Kristin is also an award winning portrait painter.

Kristin has studied painting with notable contemporary masters, including graphic designer Milton Glaser, and painters including David Leffel, Clayton Beck, III, Ron Monsma, Romel de la Torre, Leonard Wren, Richard Weaver and Sydney McKenna.

While painting is her passion, Kristin still consults in graphic design and marketing. She is an avid traveler, photographer, sailor, and active member of the Chicago Yacht Club Race Committee, where she is a timer/radio operator for major races, including the longest freshwater sailing race in the world, The Race to Mackinac.
