Larry Merrill

Born Brooklyn, went to Bard College then U. of Minnesota for MFA in photography and art history. Taught photo in college for 5 years then worked as museum art school director the University of Rochester, (NY). Guest curator for photo history exhibition at Metropolitan Museum, worked as contract photographer for World Bank, (DC) in Bhutan, Haiti, Peru, and Senegal. University of Rochester Press published book of Manhattan street photos titled Pedestrian Photographs, with introduction by Wendell Berry.
One person exhibitions in galleries in New York and San Francisco. Two at the George Eastman House, (Rochester).
Photographs in permanent collections of Minneapolis Institute of Arts, MFA Houston, Toledo Museum of Art, Johnson Museum at Cornell, Block Museum at Northwestern, Yale Art Gallery, Museum of the City of New York, New York Historical Society, Federal Reserve (DC), and others.
