Lily Engebretsen

Lily takes marquetry in an exciting new direction. This centuries old art form has traditionally portrayed historic scenes and life settings in warm, wood stained veneers. Lily’s passion for bright, beautifully vibrant colors and elegance settings brings a fresh, contemporary and lively vision to this classic art form. Unlike many, especially industrial marquetry, Lily’s work is all hand-cut .

A native of culturally diverse and colorfully exotic Brazil, Lily learned the art of marquetry at a young age assisting her mother, renowned and celebrated Brazilian artist, Magdalena Cyrino. Throughout her childhood and young adult life, Lily worked alongside her mother as she created gold medal winning marquetry designs. Many years later, leaving behind the international life of the airlines, Lily renewed her love for art and marquetry. The brilliant colors found throughout Brazil’s Rainforest habitat and the distinctive elegance of a culturally proud Brazilian society inspired Lily to augment the traditional marquetry style with more modern renditions, accented throughout with stunning colors and contemporary settings.
