Lisa Dinhofer

Lisa Dinhofer—painter, draftswoman, printmaker and public artist— earned her BA with honors from Brandeis University. For two years, she participated in the summer program at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. She completed her education with an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Lisa’s work has been shown extensively both nationally and internationally, from New York to Indiana to Japan. Her paintings, drawings and prints are widely collected, and publicly represented in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum of Art, City College (CUNY), the New York Public Library, IBM and other venues.

In 2003, she completed a 90 square foot, glass mosaic mural, consisting of five walls. Entitled, Losing My Marbles, this public art project was commissioned by the MTA Arts for Transit. It is centrally located at the Times Square subway station at 42nd. St.
As a committed member of the art community of New York City, Lisa is presently an instructor of Drawing and Color Theory at the Art Students League. As an Assistant Professor of Fine Art, she has also taught at Pratt Institute, the National Academy of Design School of Fine art, and Western Connecticut State University.

Lisa’s Mastering Colored Pencil, published by Monacelli Press, is an illustrated book which presents everything an artist needs to know in order to master this versatile medium. Additionally, she has two exhibition catalogs of her paintings and drawings available.
