Lynda Young Kaffie

Lynda Young Kaffie is an artist, workshop leader, and spiritual director who focuses on contemplative practice and the intersection of art and spirituality. She has an MA in Pastoral Ministry from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest and a BFA in art history from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She has worked in the private business sector, in state government, and as a commercial real estate broker before returning to the art field full time in 1992.

In her artwork, she focuses on the landscape from a contemplative/meditative perspective. She is an active world traveler exploring the landscapes of Italy, France, South America, Morocco, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Scotland, the Western United States, and her own state of Texas. Hiking with camera and sketchbook in hand, she sketches images of nature, which capture her eye. Water and sky are two themes resonating throughout her work as she finds inspiration in the continual changes and transitions found in nature.

Growing up in Corpus Christi, South Padre Island, and the Texas Hill Country,
she developed an affinity for the places where waters meet the sky, where palm
fronds sway against elegant sunrises and sunsets, and where mountains and hills meet with flowing rivers and streams. Her aesthetic reflects how the training of her eye and heart by the nature she loves has taken shape in her work.
