Marcia Tuznik

I am a retired elementary school art teacher who came to art quilting through my background in art education and painting.
When I discovered art quilts, I was mesmerized by the colors, as well as the textures of both hand-dyed and commercial fabrics.
I am currently interested in contemporary interpretations of traditional designs and in experimenting with a variety of materials. I love cottons, silks, wools, papers, recycled clothing and all kinds of embellishments. I enjoy creating my own “fabric” using paper and yarns. I like the challenge of creating quilts that combine unconventional materials with more traditional fabrics. I am interested in the tension between chaos and order, tradition and innovation, spontaneity, and planning and machine and hand sewing.
My artwork has been accepted in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States.
