Marco Cuba-Ricsi

Marco Cuba-Ricsi is a multidisciplinary artist and currently a Maryland resident. The artist's work is based on a mix of subjective surrealism bordering abstraction in some cases. The continued use of symbolism in most of his paintings is the language that the artist has developed. He likes to work the context of the artwork, the subliminal message in the figures and forms are often the hook that draws the viewer to delve into the inner world of the artist. Using a refined and proper technique itself, Marco achieves a harmonious combination of light and shadows that intermingle with the figures.

"I like working the background and context of each painting, the atmosphere surrounding the objects is very important to me. I feel that we have forgotten that a painting is not only shapes and colors, but instead, is a combination of all these elements and how they relate to each other and on what context... My art can be very figurative from time to time and gradually change to abstraction. For me, each painting is a window to my inner world and also a pictorial reflection about life, my experiences and my continuous evolution as an artist... I like to experiment with everything that comes to hand. Each element has an innate texture and artistic potential that inspires me and challenges me to think and recreate another reality".
