Megan Lawlor

Megan Gannon Lawlor is an American artist originally from Manasquan, NJ, a small beach town on the Atlantic Coast. She had her first formal painting lessons at a very young age when her father enrolled her in class with renowned landscape artist Ted Goerschner, N.A. (1933-2012). Ted taught that an artist must know how to draw or their work will not be believable. Thus began a lifelong love of drawing and painting the figure, portrait and landscape. Megan studied Fashion Illustration at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, PA, where she received exceptional instruction in classical figure drawing under the tutelage of Jack Henderson, N.A. (1931-1998). She continued her studies in painting and drawing at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, also in Philadelphia.

Megan's honors and awards include Selected Artist for the Portrait Society of America/Cecilia Beaux Forum Mentoring Program and a First Place/PSC Medal from juror Nelson Shanks (1937-2015) at the Philadelphia Sketch Club.

Her work is in private collections and has been featured in many galleries including Salmagundi Club, Prince Street Gallery, Winterthur Museum, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, James Oliver Gallery, Bridgette Mayer Gallery, Philadelphia Sketch Club and more. She is represented at Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, N.J.

Professional affiliations include American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, Moore College of Art & Design Alumni Association and Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

She lives and works in North Wales, PA with her Husband, Michael and goldendoodle, Marley.
