Mark Aeling

Sculptor Mark Aeling received his Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture from Colorado State University in 1989. It was here that he first developed a love for the human form.

He moved to Seattle, Washington in 1989 and began working for the Seattle Opera where he made sculpture and scenery for a wide range of productions. Through this experience he learned the “nuts and bolts” of design and fabrication.
In 1991, Mark moved to St. Louis and began his graduate studies. In 1993, he received his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Washington University. His graduate work focused on the abstract relationships of wood and metals.

Shortly after completing graduate school he opened MGA Sculpture Studio and began to establish a devoted client base. MGA Sculpture Studio quickly gained an exceptional reputation with the design, fabrication and architectural industries in the Saint Louis region for outstanding and dependable work. The Studio has focused on representational and abstract figurative work as well as architectural ornament and restoration.

Mark relocated his studio to St. Petersburg, Florida in the summer of 2005. He continues to work with clients from the Saint Louis area as well as new clients from across the country. Engaging in projects from New York to California, Florida to Nevada, Colorado to Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois, he is truly a nationally recognized artist. In 2012, he was the only American selected to show at the Stone Sculpture Triennale in Takamatsu, Japan.

Mark has a fascination with process and materials. He thrives on the creative problem solving of sculpture, utilizing the challenges to constantly expand the parameters of his work. From his continued love for the study of the human form to his extensive knowledge of process, he is a sculptor in heart and soul. Sculpture is his life’s ambition and his life’s work.
