Plinio Hernandez

I was born in El Salvador in 1979 and moved with my family to Oakland in 1985 and have lived in the area ever since. I hold a MFA from UC Berkeley (2011) and a BFA in Photography from Otis College of Art and Design (2006).

My artwork examines history, geography and personal narratives of migration, identity and memory that are materialized through elements of drawings, sculpture, collaborations, videos and performance.

I am also dedicated to art education and have taught at UC Berkeley, Berkeley High School, Kala Art Institute and Root Division.
