My oil paintings are wholly about storytelling. I use character and light to share stories of hope, friendship and kindness. With each piece, a tiny green frog named Beau (my own reflection), helps drive the story forward by either being part of the moment or a hidden observer.

I find myself fortunate to be largely self-taught, having taken influence from a select few and striving only to find and develop my own style. My art, while complex in technique, composition, and lighting embraces the youthful spirit in us all of us and encourages us to escape the complexities of life.

Hope and acceptance drive my collection called Friends Along The Way where, beyond the canvas, they might not otherwise find friendship. A frog and a gator, a cat and a bat, a manatee and a dog. Watching as my dog is fascinated by the deer passing through the backyard or seeing a dragonfly land briefly on the snout of a manatee as it surfaces … these are stories waiting to be told.

Escape and self-soothing drive my collection called Places I’d Rather Be. The act of painting each piece provided a portal to leave the confines of a small bedroom studio and the pressing responsibilities of life. I imagined sheltered forests, quaint sandy coves, and evenings lit with moonlight - quite literally places I’d rather be.

With each piece, I offer a partially-told story, allowing the viewer’s mind to carry on the story in the way that moves them.
