RJ Sturgess

RJ Sturgess is a ceramic sculptor living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. His ceramic forms deal with questions of permanence and are an investigation into his childhood. Specifically exploring the emotions felt while moving between homes during his parents divorce. RJ’s work has been featured in several international exhibitions, and featured as an emerging artist on “Musing About Mud” in 2013.

RJ was raised in Mayfield, New York, a small town nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. In 2012 he graduated with his Bachelors of Fin Arts in Ceramics and a Bachelors of Science in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Buffalo State College. In 2017 he began pursuing his Masters of Fine Arts in Ceramics at Georgia State University, where he is an Instructor of Record, and president of the student ceramics club.
