Matthew Saindon

Matthew Saindon was born in Washington D.C. in 1973. He is an experimental photographer living and working in Baltimore Md. Matthew studied photography and darkroom practices at Goddard College in Plainfield Vermont. After trading in his analog slr for digital he found the freedom to experiment in ways that would have proved too costly to try on film. Beginning with digital pinholes, Matthew began designing lenses from objects not intended for use for photography. His dreamlike images include glimpses of faces, birds and children’s toys that often tip fully over into abstraction. Beautiful as objects in themselves, they serve Saindon’s broader agenda to imagine a world that resists categorization and remains open to possibility. Matthew has exhibited extensively in Maryland, Vermont, and New York.
