Sarah Bouchard

I am a feminist, process-driven artist with an affinity for minimalist albeit monumental sculpture and installation. There is usually a strong conceptual component to my work, although this dense mental matter often hides beneath a seemingly clean visual presentation. I am primarily an introspective artist, working best in solitude. I have a strong affinity for the works of Walter de Maria, Tara Donovan, Ernesto Neto, Louise Bourgeois, Janet Cardiff, and Robert Irwin. I am thoroughly taken with anything involving the use of my hands, making materials integral to anything I do. I am moved by texture and pattern, as well as subtle shifts in color, light and sound. I am drawn toward unlikely juxtapositions that bring about a shift in perception.
