Sharon Louise Barnes

Sharon Louise Barnes is an African American interdisciplinary artist born in Sacramento, CA and raised in Los Angeles. A MacDowell Fellow and a recipient of the City of Los Angeles Individual Master Artist Fellowship, Barnes works across painting, sculpture, Her practice has become known for its exploration of Social Abstraction and a continual experimentation with mediums and processes. Interested in sites of resistance, resilience, and beauty, Barnes links her works to personal and collective narratives by pushing the boundaries of abstract visual language and investigating the metaphoric use of materials.
