Stephanie Levy

Stephanie Levy is a textile artist from Maine. She studied studio art at the School of the Worcester Art Museum, the University of Minnesota and received an additional degree in art education from the University of Southern Maine. Stephanie majored in painting and the formal vocabulary of painting is evident in her work. A trip to Sweden in 1973, as well as a family tradition of sewing, lured her to explore the culture of fiber as an art form.
Her work employs fabric, paint, thread, and dyes to express an interest in the color and space of landscape. These works explore a sense of connection to traditions of the past and a reverence for the work of the hand. Her work has been shown in the United States.
