KARL SZEKIELDA

Born in Berlin, Karl was influenced by German artists and later by artists in the United States where he now resides. He studied at the University Aix-Marseille where he received his Docteur de l’Université, and later left for the United States where his artwork gradually transformed as can be seen in a number of his paintings and three-dimensional montages. In line with his international work and travels, he was also influenced by the art in other cultures. Karl applies similar attributes to artistic endeavors as to scientific work and research. He regards each of his abstract work as an experiment although he does not necessarily follow a prescribed scheme or technique.. The abstract paintings are bold and combine an understanding of spectral properties and color that may be defined both in objective terms and in subjective terms, as something perceived and experienced by an individual. Karl's studio is located in Hampton Bays, NY. His work has been exhibited in New York City, the Hamptons, and his paintings are among private collections in New York, Berlin, Toronto, Vienna.
