Terry Sitz

My abstract/mixed media paintings begin without specific intention or plan. I may be listening to music that inspires me (Anything from Hozier, Mumford & Sons, kd lang, Etta James to Pavarotti. ) or thoughts about a personal struggle or inspiration. I allow my intuition to guide my work. I respond to colors, shapes and hopefully, I paint with an outpouring of unconscious abandon.

My works are on larger canvases. In addition to layers upon layers of paint, everything is fair game: bags from retailers, old sewing patterns, postage stamps, vintage books, printed materials from my travels, cardboard, vintage packaging, wax pastels, graphite, handmade papers, cloth-- the list grows. And sometimes, a sense of figure emerges
