Viola Bordon

I have a MFA from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis. My work ranges from drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography and fibers.

I have traveled extensively and lived in eight different cities including Chennai, St. Louis and Philadelphia where I currently reside. In 2018 I received the Milliken Travel grant and was able to spend 3 months working in Jaipur with the Indian Institute of Craft and Design. I studied a variety of Indian handicrafts, and have had a vested interest in crafts since that experience.

I am eager to understand the sources and formation of materials which leads to an interest in the environmental systems that influence material formation. Salt, rust, wood, metal, fiber and water are active players in my work. I would like to continue working in nature and manipulating cycles that already exist.
