Nancy Purington

Waves-Patterns-Particles, Changing States of Water, Alluvion Design, Abstraction & Form, Channeling The Force, Charting The Invisible, Navigating In The Dark and Reflections On Infinity: required courses at the Mississippi River School of Painting.

Nancy Purington's artwork and style is influenced by her study of the Mississippi River from rural Iowa in the mid-20th C. Aesthetic relatives include Wassily Kandinsky, Arthur Dove, Mark Rothko, Georgia O'Keeffe and Bix Beiderbecke's original blues/jazz compositions.

She works primarily in paint on canvas and paper, however photographic imagery of water patterns and mixed media are employed for maximum expression. Her work has been commissioned for many public and private collections. As lead artist, consultant or curator, she has had the honor and privilege of developing artwork installations in healing environments for over 20 years.
