Renée Rey is an award-winning artist dividing time between New York City and Southwest Florida.

In large and intimate-scaled paintings, mixed media and installation art, Rey challenges traditional landscape and human figuration, exploring transformation and movement in mythopoetic, alternative universes and transformative, ambiguous self-portraits. Utilizing traditional and non-traditional media, Rey explores and experiments with the transformative nature of materiality aiming to push the boundaries of line and form and symbolize the fragility and strength of the human condition. In our uncertain times of political divisiveness, environmental chaos and religious and racial tensions, Rey investigates narratives of isolation, connection, identity, equality and inclusiveness begging the question, where are we going from here?

Rey's artwork has been selected for national awards and exhibitions by art professionals, museum curators and gallerists including Alejo Benedetti, Curatorial Assistant, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AK; Jade Dellinger, Director of Exhibits & Collections, Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at Florida Southwestern State College, Fort Myers, FL, Dr. Julie Sasse, Chief Curator, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Curator of Latin American Art at the Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ, Erin Wright, Curator at Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA and Gisela Carbonell, Curator, Cornell Fine Arts Museum, Orlando, FL.
